Veneer Inlays

Patterned lengths, motifs and stringing for box making and creative carpentry

Veneer inlay is a decorative woodworking technique: thin pieces of wood, known as veneers, are cut and glued onto a substrate in a pattern or design. We stock three kinds, all ready to set into your work: patterned inlay lengths, single inlay motifs, and fine stringing.

Inlay Lengths

Patterned bands, each 1220mm long (1.2m), in 35 widths from 4mm to 50.5mm. Sold one length at a time.

Inlay Motifs

Single pieces to set into a lid or panel: rounds from 40mm to 113mm across, and squares and shapes up to 183mm x 130mm. Sold one motif at a time.

Stringing

Fine lines for borders and edges: black, beech, brown and black-white-black, 1mm to 4mm wide and 1mm thick, in 1m lengths.

The Inlay Lengths widths

Every inlay length is 1220mm long. These are the 35 widths in Inlay Lengths, from 4mm to 50.5mm, narrowest first.

Each band is drawn to scale against the others, using the photo of a length stocked in that width. Tap a width to see every length in it.

Choosing an inlay

  1. Pick the width your design needs. Every length is named with its width, for example A2006 Veneer Inlay 6.5mm x 1.2m, and the Inlay Lengths page has width buttons above the list.
  2. Compare patterns in the Inlay Lengths list: a close-up sits under each strip, so the pattern shows before you open the product.
  3. Work out how many. Add up the run you want to cover and divide by 1220mm, or use the box below.
mm

Each length is 1220mm.
